This half-term we really enjoyed exploring a range of space themed stories in our English lessons. We used our sensory room to create an atmospheric space environment and explored the sensory story ‘Here Come the Aliens’. We used salt dough to create our own bizarre alien characters and also followed instructions to make some very tasty edible alien sandwiches!
In our topic lessons we learned about the space explorers Neil Armstrong and Tim Peake. We watched their space craft’s launch into space and created our own Rockets using junk modelling materials.
This term Blue class visited our local library in Oakwood. We spent a lovely morning exploring a range of fiction and non-fiction books. We also listened to some entertaining stories linked to our English / Topic theme - Space. Once we had selected our two favourite books we each learned how to use our class library card to borrow our chosen books.
Bramley Road Park and Chicken Shed
To celebrate our hard work across the school year (and say a farewell to Miss Amy) we visited the playground at Bramley Road Park. Despite the chilly weather, we enjoyed spinning on the roundabout, soaring on the swings and sliding down the giant slide! We then headed into the warmth of Chickenshed to enjoy a delicious lunch with ice-cream for dessert.
As I head off for my maternity leave I would like to thank all the wonderful students and staff in Blue class for a fantastic year so far! I would also like to thank all the parents for your ongoing support whilst I have had the pleasure of teaching your special young people. I look forward to visiting Oaktree in the Summer Term to see the fantastic things your children continue to do.
