Spring Term 1

6Th Form visit Southgate School

In a bid to widen our horizons and enrich our experiences of education as well as building links with other 6th Formers, we visited Southgate School this term and took part in lessons held in a much bigger, busier setting than we were used to. Following a few teething problems with the ICT suite we settled with making cakes for our TODOS charity in their massive Food Tech room. With enough space for at least 30 students we set about making a large batch of cakes to pass onto Billy for his soup kitchen. We were joined by a number of Southgate’s 6th Formers and the beginnings of a beautiful friendship between Oaktree and Southgate has been forged. We would like to say a big thank you for their hospitality and look forward to working with them again on a joint venture at Southgate and at Oaktree.

OMG! It’s BGT!

Our 6Th Form reward trip came early this term as Jon managed to secure us tickets to BRITAIN”S GOT TALENT! It was an amazing chance for us to watch the London auditions LIVE!

Travelling into London on a coach we arrived at the London Palladium to face a two-hour delay while we waited for Amanda to arrive and Simon to top up his spray tan! So there was enough time for photos at the BGT sign and a walk down Carnaby Street for a bit of window shopping.

Back to the Palladium and as the dutiful audience we were, we cheered and clapped all the fantastic, and not so fantastic acts that we got to see.  Watch out for us when Britain’s Got Talent is aired this year! We have to say a big thank you to Jon for nailing us the tickets and giving us a trip to remember. Did we enjoy ourselves? We hear Jon ask………. Jon you have 24 yeses!
