Drama and the Expressive Arts

Connect with Your Greatness: The Drama, Music and Performing Arts curriculum at Oaktree promotes growth across each of the three journeys, supporting students in developing meaningful connections with themselves, their communities and the world.

Journey 1: Students have regular dedicated Drama sessions designed to develop foundational skills. The curriculum prioritises relational development and communication, which are embedded in a non-subject-specific framework. The school’s collaboration with Chickenshed further enhances these sessions, offering tailored drama training that supports inclusive, creative expression.

Journey 2: students engage with Drama and Music through a broader curriculum. Drama features within Pathways, offering targeted opportunities for skill development and it is also integrated into English lessons, focusing on speaking, listening and role-play activities. Humanities lessons also incorporate elements of drama and music, providing cross-curricular opportunities to explore themes creatively and collaboratively.

Journey 3: students benefit from regular, dedicated Drama sessions tied to school performances. These sessions prepare students for participation in productions, which serve as key opportunities to build confidence and foster personal growth. By engaging in these performances, students refine their Drama and Performing Arts skills, gaining invaluable experience in teamwork and self-expression.

Through these journeys, the Drama, Music and Performing Arts curriculum at Oaktree empowers students to connect with their greatness by cultivating curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning. Each journey reflects the school’s commitment to holistic development, ensuring every student thrives academically, socially and emotionally.
