PSHE/RSE
Connect with Your Greatness: The PSHE / RSE curriculum at Oaktree promotes growth across each of the three journeys, supporting students in developing meaningful connections with themselves, their communities and the world.
Journey 1: PSHE and RSE are woven into our Non Subject Specific curriculum that prioritises social interaction and self-awareness. Students explore concepts like making friends, recognising emotions and understanding their environment through play and experiential activities. The focus is on developing foundational social skills and building confidence in navigating their world.
Journey 2: introduces more structured PSHE and RSE lessons, centred around health and well-being, relationships and living in the wider world. Topics include understanding online safety, recognising appropriate behaviour and developing self-care skills. Lessons are practical and tailored, helping students build friendships, sustain meaningful relationships and prepare for transitions such as moving on to college. This journey encourages students to apply their learning to real-life contexts, fostering independence and confidence.
Journey 3: focuses on equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for adulthood. Lessons cover relationships, consent, healthy lifestyles and managing changes. Students learn about maintaining appropriate behaviour, forming meaningful connections and transitioning to post-school life, whether in further education or employment. The aim is to prepare them for independence, enabling a confident and successful transition to adulthood.
Through these journeys, the PSHE / RSE curriculum at Oaktree empowers students to connect with their greatness by cultivating curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning. Each journey reflects the school’s commitment to holistic development, ensuring every student thrives academically, socially and emotionally.
