Pupil Premium & Catchup

All students at Oaktree have Education, Health and Care Plans which identify a variety of complex learning difficulties.  All our students work below national age related expectations.

The combination of these learning difficulties, often alongside social and emotional and speech and language challenges present, for each student, considerable barriers to learning.

In recent years the number of students eligible for Pupil Premium has averaged at just over 50%. In general, we use our grant in 3 ways:

  • To support Teacher and Learning Support Assistant led intervention programmes for pupil premium students
  • To support the increased mental health issues and general anxieties are pupils have suffered since the beginning of the pandemic ensuring that they are in a good place to learn
  • To provide financial subsidy to pupil premium students to ensure access to opportunities to cultural and sporting experiences which they may otherwise not be able to enjoy.

Catch up premium is provided to support pupils catching up for lost learning caused by the pandemic. Oaktree School has combined this funding to enable 1-to-1 tuition for all pupils during the academic year 2021/2022. This can be viewed in the Pupil Premium Plan 2023 to 2024.
